Kay,
Good morning.
My first thought be to check The Maine Register, a book compiled of
workplaces, goverment and local information. I am not sure how early
these begin in Maine, I know I have some from the 1860's. You could
always start at the older ones and move backwards.
My first thought would be the Maine State Archives or the Maine
Historical Society.
