Subject: Navy or Coast Guard in Civil War

I have reason to believe that my G gf, James MARSH,
possibly James H, son of William MARSH and Lucy RINES
of Alna, is supposed to have served in the US Navy, possibly
Coast Guard, during the Civil War. I believe he was b abt 1835
and was one of six children.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some records, lists,
info, etc that might include his name ?

Grateful for any help.
