Donham Published 1887:

Town of Wiscasset, Shire town. On Knox and Lincoln Div. M. C. R. R. and
terminus of Wiscasset. Ten miles from Bath. Formerly together with
Dresden, Alna and Swan Island. The Ancient Powalborough: the settlement
of which was first commenced in 1663. Dresden and Alna were set off
June 25, 1794. The name of Pownalborough was retained until June 10,
1802, when it was changed to Wiscasset.
