James;
Two of my Civil War veterans were buried on the farm they lived on, not
unusual in the day.
James how do I contact the Civil War Archivist in Augusta?
Good luck finding the whereabouts of your James Brown.
Linda
Thank you for responding Linda. I have checked with the Civil War Archivist
at Augusta and his records had James C Brown buried at Hollis which turned
out to be incorrect. I do know he died and was buried in Searsmont as in his
Civil War Pension papers one of his daughters states that she was at his
funeral at Searsmont but sadly, she didn't say which cemetery. A kind lady
in Thomaston has made extensive checks for me but we still haven't found
him. Perseverance is the only way maybe David has a good idea perhaps he
was buried on his old property. Thank you for your interest. Best wishes,
James.

I believe that the Bangor Library has a full set of MOCA records as does the
State Library in Augusta. Check them out.
