Elizabeth,
According to the Phalen, History of the Town of Acton.
William S. Handley , was a farmer, enlisted Sept 4, 1861, age. 23.
He was also Private in Capt, Daniel Tuttle's Co., known as the "Davis
Guards"
that responded to Pres. Lincoln's call for Volunteers in April 1861.
