Hi Judy. I just have a very small clue for you.

The name, PACH, is sometimes the nickname for men with the Portuguese surname of PACHECO. (var. spell.)

And, if you browse at eBay, you will see that there were at least two artists with that surname. And, I think one had ties to NYC. But, I have no idea whether they were also photographers.

Also, I would suggest taking a chance and writing a letter to the Museum of Fine Arts, and seeing if they have information in their Archives.
