I am trying to pin down a place of birth for my g-grandfather, William James Jardine. The information I have (death certificate) gives his birthdate as 12 APR, 1881 in Cambridge.
His parents were James Kerr Jardine and Elizabeth Henessey, both originally from New Brunswick.
I have already done a search through the Mass. Vital Statistics which came up empty.
Would church records exist from that period (I believe his family was Presbyterian)?
Are there any on-line sources of newspaper birth notices?

Any help much appreciated!
