Hello again,
I just noticed that I didn't include some of the information from the
Billerica book on the Samuel FITCH in Billerica in the 1600's. Since it
is a confusing paragraph, I'd like to offer it .. as is:
"FITCH, 1. Samuel, was the only son of Samuel, of Reading. His father
was son of Zechary, and b. 1645, March 6. Zechary's will, 1662, names
other ch., Joseph, Benjamin, John, Jeremiah, Thomas, and Sarah, wife of
John WESSON, of Salem.
Samuel m. Sarah LANE, dau. of Job. 1. She d. 1679, Oct. 2. His will
bears date, 1684, May 10, and names wife, Rebecca, and son, Samuel. The
latter received from his grandfather, Job LANE, one-fourth part of the
WINTHROP Farm. His portion was in two parts: ....... He m. 1695-6,
March 20, Elizabeth WALKER, dau. of Joseph, 1. She d. 1716, Nov. 26; he
m. Eunice ______, who survived him. He was the first town-clerk and one
of the first selectmen of Bedford, 1729. He d. 1742, April 4. Ch...
... ... " (stated in previous posting)...
Note: Under Joseph, 2, son of Samuel, 1, b1702 ..., it says "The FITCH
family were all in the Bedford part of the town."
Note: Bedford annexed off of Billerica and was incorporated in Sept.
1729.
(FYI: Many of the towns which annexed off of Billerica and Chelmsford did
so in 1729 and 1730. And last year some celebrated their 275th
anniversary of becoming a town. Don't forget that Billerica and
Chelmsford are in the middle of celebrating their 350th anniversary of being
a town.)
Thank you for your time. Enjoy your Sunday.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
P.S. As per my other posting, I am interested in the younger, FITCH
step-siblings of my ancestor, Joseph KIDDER, son of Thomas and Joanna
(KEYES) KIDDER. Thomas KIDDER's large farm was in the part of Chelmsford
which annexed off to become Westford. But, he died unexpectedly, before
Age 40, and before the incorporation of Westford in 1729.
(I have found out that Thomas was buried in the Fairview Cemetery in
Westford, and I have found out that the Fairview Cemetery is up near Rt. 40
in North Chelmsford. But, the Thomas KIDDER Farm was on Rt. 225 in (south)
Westford, near the Acton and Littleton lines.)
