West Acton: Mrs. Israel Charlton has returned from New Hampshire; C. A.
Durkee, Fritz Hawes and A. H. Gilmore, went fishing last Friday at Grassy
pond; Mrs. Emery Clark of Newton has been sick with typhoid; Miss Alberta
Littlefield wed Walter Tuttle; Sheldon E. Littlefield has moved to Boston
to work for the Boston Elevated Railway company; William Mullin of Ayer
and Miss Mary Hubbard were married; Miss Ethel Cutler married Edward Reed
of Fitchburg; Waldo Littlefield and J. E. Richardson have received the
medals given by the state to the Minute Men of '61, who fought their way
through Baltimore on April 19, 1861, where fell the first casualties from
hostile fire of the Civil War.
Acton Center: Mr. and Mrs. Searles have a baby daughter; Misses Sophia
Taylor, Hattie Tuttle and Flora Blood returning to Mt. Holyoke college;
Arthur Wayne has been confined to the house the past week with an attack
of tonsilitis; the Lowell and Fitchburg street railway Co. will appear
before the selectmen to petition for a new line to East Acton.
