Hi Don,
Checked the censuses; in Reading in 1850 a Samuel Nichols, "Trader", and wife (Achsah, b. NH) & family including Samuel Nichols, Jr. appear. In 1860, Achsah B. Nichols appears alone as head of household; so apparently Samuel Sr. died. I checked Reading VR 1841-1910, on NEHGS, and lo and behold! "Samuel Nichols, death, Reading; 2 Nov 1859; age 55y 6m; cause: Dropsy; married; occ: Trader; b.place: Dracut; parents': Samuel & Sukey Nichols."
His birth is listed in Dracut VR to 1850; Samuel Nicols, to Samuel and Sukey on 12 May 1804. Their marriage is listed in Reading VR to 1850:
Samuel Nichols & Sukey Parker; 7 Mar 1803.
There is a birth in Reading for Sukey Parker, d. of Benjamin & Susannah, 21 Aug. 1782.
Hope that answers your question.
Lisa
