Subject: [MAMiddle] Middlesex county vital records update
Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2006 10:36:24 -0800
Good morning, everyone. :-)
Between my job and other commitments, it has taken Jodi and me a little
over a month to get the indices for the Middlesex vital records online.
For each town that publlished vital records arranged alphabetically, you
can access the main town index which provides links to the Birth, Marriage
and Death files. Some, like Arlington, Cambridge, Carlisle and Tewksbury are
completely transcribed and have the page images online. There are some that
will be complete by the end of the week, I HOPE!!
Other towns are being worked on. Lowell is nearly half complete.
For all these, even if only partially transcribed or none, so far, you can
access the complete surname index and see what pages the records are on in
the book. Some images are online, but not nearly all. If you click a page
and get a "Not Found" error. Do NOT write and tell us there is a broken
link. The pages are done in a boilerplate fashion and the links are active.
As soon as the images go online, they will appear. In the meantime, you can
request copies from us at .
This is VERY IMPORTANT - Do you like having the images available
immediately? Then write and tell him so. Tell him you'd
like the rest of the images of the Middlesex county vital records. Refer to
the vital records project being done by John Slaughter.
There are 5 towns that have published records, Concord founded 1635,
Littleton, Townsend, Watertown, and Weston, but do not have indices. These
were all done in different formats, mostly chronological, and will take us a
lot more work to get done. These will come after we get the alphabetic towns
done.
We still need transcribers. This is not difficult. You can live anywhere
in the world. We will provide you with all you need including comprehensive
instructions. We will try to accomodate you if you have a particular town of
interest. Transcribing is NOT for everyone. But, there must be at least 10
people out of the over 300 on this list that have enough time to help their
fellow genealogists and cousins. Write us at if
you would be interested.
