Hello,

I visited the Lynnfield Library today and browsed their History Room. One
of the books I found had the 1865 Census for Chelmsford. In the book I
found a reference to a Clarissa CROSBY living with a WRIGHT family.
Clarissa was listed as Age 60 and living as a servant. This puts this
Clarissa as being born ~1805.

I continue to look for the origin of a Miss Clarissa CROSBY or a Mrs.
Clarissa (?) CROSBY born 1800 to 1810 who married Charles KIDDER in
Chelmsford in 1841. It was his 3rd marriage * and I don't know how many
times she was married.

They had a son, Roscoe KIDDER, b1846, and he was born at the "poor farm" in
Westford. For whatever reason he was sent to live in a family in NH, and,
after living with another family, he enlisted to serve in the Civil War.
His father lived to 1867, and, as above, his mother possibly lived at least
to 1865.

By the way, I'd like to remind people that this History Room is very good.
And, if the Special Collections Room at the Haverhill Library is closed,
researchers might want to visit the Lynnfield Library instead. It is also
right off Rt. 128 / 95.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

* Charles married his first wife twice.

(I've seen references to two other Clarissa CROSBY's but they are probably
not the ones who married Charles.)
