My aunt was 9 and she remembers the doctor coming to the house.... My aunt
lost both of her parents (within one week) and she remembers the doctor in the
kitchen crying "if I had some whiskey I could save some of these people"
Now, that is just what she tells me and of course I don't know if it was
factual as she was s o young.

My father joined up with his best friend and went to Fort Devens; within one
week his best friend was dead of the flu.
