Thank you. I also understand that Sarah the wife of George Paddock
being Giles' daughter is uncertain.

In retrospect I see I should not have given the 1596 birth year for
Giles. It is from WFT Vol. 2, #2704 for the Rickard family and is
classified "Unreliable" with no source given.

Also, I note that Judith Cogan, Giles first wife, was said to have been
baptized 13 Jun 1594. A 1596 birth year for Giles would make Giles
younger than Judith. While certainly possible -- it is perhaps not
likely.

I found an abstract of Giles probate which only mentions a son John
deceased with son John surviving and Giles deceased with sons Gyles and
John surviving. Entail in Plymouth was by Gavelkind so they would be
his only sons and surviving heirs. I have no dates for Sarah and no
daughter is mentioned in the abstract. Either she was not his daughter,
did not survive him with heirs or did not get along well with him.

Do you have any dates for Sarah wife of George Paddock?

Bill -

As far as I know he did not. See George E. McCracken, "Early Cogans
English and American," NEGHR, 111 [1957]:172. McCracken put a ? before
Sarah's name, which seems to indicate that he thought it questionable
whether the wife of George Paddock was Giles' daughter.

BTW, McCracken does not give a year of birth for Giles, and I have not
found one. What is the primary source for the year of his birth?
