Subject: New Subscriber searching for Thomas Nicholl, Sr.

Hello to all of you. I am a new subscriber to your list and I am looking for information
concerning Thomas Nicholl, Sr., b. abt 1624 supposedly in Wales, Married Hannah Griffin. This
ancestor of mine is an enigma in that, there seems to be considerable information about
him, i.e. contributed his ships to assisting the movement of colonists during the King Philip
war for which he received land that later became East Greenwich, RI; he became a Freeman,
he was a constable and council member; he ran a maritime business in Newport, RI and there
is a lot more. But the biggest question is where did Thomas, Sr. come from? Some say his
father was Edmund Nicholl the Elder of Glamorgan, Wales. I have Edmund the Elder's will
from 1661 and there is no mention of a son by the name of Thomas. Much has been
written about Thomas, Sr. and his son Thomas, Jr., much of which is in question.

It was suggested that I include your list in my search for information. I am hoping that
somewhere there is further information about Thomas, Sr. and appreciate any guidance
you all might be able to give me.

Thank you, Phil Nichols
