Thank you Susan and Deborah for the sources you passed along. What's new in
this story, and was apparently overlooked by researchers for the last 330
years, was a court record at the Suffolk County Court of 1671 and 1672,
showing an appearance by Richard HALL and Martha (not named) for
"fornication". They were said to have moved to Haverhall and that Richard
was "late of Hull".

Martha's surname name remains a mystery, but recently I saw a website that
listed Richard as having married Martha Benson in 1670. It is true that
Martha Benson's father, John, does make reference to "daughter Hall" and
"son Hall", but never identifies which daughter he is talking about. There
are other sources who list a daughter "N.N." as having married
Combs(Coombs).

My theory is that Martha may well have been married to Combs (Coombs), but
that either he died, or she committed adultery with Richard Hall, and they
ran off to Haverhill. There is no record of their marriage in Haverhill, or
the birth of Sarah, but the Bradford (now Haverhill) VR's show that Sarah
died in Bradford in 1690, age about 19.

Coincidentally, Richard and Martha Hall's children's names are: John,
Joseph, Martha, Mary, and Richard. These are the same names of John Benson's
children (Martha's father).

The researcher who states that Richard Hall married Martha Benson is Hal
Bradbury, of Victorville, CA. I've attempted to reach his email address and
phone number, but have had no success.

Any comments are welcome!

Best,

Jeff
