In looking at the 1843-44 Lloyd's Register, I see ship DUMFRIESHIRE listed
with J. Gowan as Master and Kelley printed in smaller type under his name.
In the 1844-45 register, Kelley is the Master of Dumfrieshire.

What does the dual Master listing in 1843-44 mean? Does it simply signify a
transition from one man to the other, or should I assume that both men
were on board in 1843-44?

Thanks.

Harold
