I know of at least one other Martin Family in Oak Grove cemetary and they
are my Grandparents William and Elizabeth. They had many children, Doris,
Henry, William, Alice, Irene, Enoch, Beatrice, Jane, Lillian and my Dad
George. They were, a least I am told, Irish but I suspect that there was
French mixed in there too. I have not really been actively looking due to
other of life's commitments but possibly this information may help someone.
I remember as a small child being shown that my Grandparents were not too
far from Lizzie Borden's grave. They lived on Second Street in Fall River
and my Dad owned a rooming hous in Fall River before meeting my Mom and
marrying. I think that Irene is the only surviving sibling and she lives in
Halfway Missouri. My Dad also suffered from what was then called infantile
parallysis which was later diagnosed as Polio and he lost both ankles on one
leg and one on the other but could dance with the best of them ands was
always an excellent Dad to us. Hopefully this may help someone. George

Dear Stephanie,

I finally got over the the North Burial Ground in Fall River, MA, but I
ran into some glitches. I need you to double check some stuff, and I
will head back and look again. Here's the scoop:

In the last email you noted that your Martins were in the North Burial
Ground in
lot 297 by the intersections of West Avenue and 10th Avenue. First
problem
occured when I arrived at the North Burial Ground to discover that there
is no
West Avenue or 10th Avenue bordering it anywhere. I did walk through
probably
a good 1/2 of the entire cemetary on the off chance I might see
something. I only found
one Martin family -- for the sake of others that might benefit they were
the following:

1834-1893 Elisha G. Martin
1841-1914 Ellen A, his wife
1871-1933 Ida E, their daughter
1875-1939 Wiliam J., their son
1881-1955 Jessie C., his wife
1903- Elsie C., their daughter
1857-1925 Mary C.(or G) Campbell

Well, disheartened, I and my comrade, decided to try the Oak Grove
cemetary in
Fall River, bordered on one side by a 10th Street (vs. Ave). This is a
huge and ancient
place. We trekked through a goodly portion of it, found two sets of
MARTINS there
before we gave up due to the failing light and my growling stomach. At
Oak Grove
I found:

Peter Martin, 1833-1911
Annie, his wife, 1833-1903
Annie, 1865-1908 (? can't read the picture well)
Also right next to this lot, was:
Eliza Martin, born Jan 11, 1856, Died Oct. 3, 1889

Then there was a monument for MARTINs in the same cemetary with these
folks
at it. There was a Masonic emblem on this monument:

John Brown, 11/22/1907
Arona Brown
George Martin 4/16/1852 to 5/5/1908
Mary A. Martin 11/25/1855 to 4/ / 1888
Lilly May Martin May 15, 1881 to July 23, 1881

Stephanie, see if you can confirm the burial ground and the intersection.
There is
no West Avenue in Fall River as best as we can tell. These and the other
area
cemetaries are huge, and in the case of the North Burial Ground, with a
lot
of vandalism. I will go back and look again if you can check your data
for me.

Blessings,
