Fran,

Thank you for writing! You wrote to me last September and I had saved
your message. Yes, you and I are in agreement on everything you said.
I went to Virginia a year ago last April, and got copies of wills,
deeds, etc. for the Martins. Believe it or not, I am NOT a Martin
descendant. BUT, the Martins lived adjacent in VA, then migrated
together to Caswell County, then some migrated together to Sumner
County, TN. So, the family intermarried jillions of times. There is as
much Martin blood as Brown blood in our family. Researching these
Martins has proven critical to finding my Browns.

I did check out the on-line deed index for VA (from the VA Dept of
Libraries) and found an early land grant for a Robert Martin in
Spotsylvania County, VA. It was for a large piece of land--can't
remember the specifics now, but think it was about 1000 acres. Then, in
the land patent book for Orange County, VA was the same land patent.
So, the land was in Spots County first, and later in Orange County.
Based on the date (which I will have to look up), the land may have
belonged to Robert Martin who m. Ann Easom/Eastham, or could have been a
father of Robert, but I feel pretty certain he is in the family.

What info do you need from me? I have extended lineages on some of the
Martin children. While in Orange County, VA I found info in books and
loose files on several of Robert and Ann's children. Will send it if
you need it.
