Kenneth,
Your Loderick was the grandson of Loderick Matthews (1794-1855). His
father, Benjamin Rush was the oldest child of Loderick. When Loderick and
Mary Harrell moved to Texas in 1851, Benjamin and his family remained in El
Dorado. Benjamin's name is on a historical marker located at the North
East corner of the town square in El Dorado. He built the square.
Paintings of Loderick and Benjamin Rush hang in the lobby area of the First
Baptist Church of El Dorado. Ak since they were two of the founders of that
church.

This is all that I have on this part of the family:

Descendants of Benjamin Rush Matthews

1 Benjamin Rush Matthews 1821 - 1894
. +Sarah E. Wright 1838 - 1894
........ 2 Martha W. Matthews 1853 -
........... +Unknown Greening
........ 2 Loderick Matthews 1855 -
........ 2 Edward W. Matthews 1857 -
........ 2 Henry C. Matthews 1859 -
........ 2 Benjamin Rush Matthews, Jr. 1860 -
........ 2 George Wright Matthews 1860 -
........ 2 Katherine Crowell Matthews 1860 -
........... +Lord Harleston
........ 2 Hugh Matthews 1860 -

In addition to Benjamin, Loderick William and his family also remained in
El Dorado. One of his Granddaughters, Nettie Lee Matthews Simmons provided
me with most of the information I have on Loderick's clan. She also lived
in El Dorado. I would have to surmise that two two families were not able
to remain in contact since her information was very limited.

I also will be interested in any additional information on this family,
especially is there are any other children who carry the name Loderick. So
far, I've been able to identify 12 men with the name (counting my
grandson).

Pictures of Loderick, Benjamin, the sign, etc on on one of my personal
family pages.

Cheers, Bill
