I doubt if we have a Matthews connection. Mine were all Southerners -
Mississippi-to-Texas - and I'm sure that none of them ever made it as far
north as Indiana or PA.

The best way to 'persuade' someone to do a dna test is to offer to pay the
fees. I found this out the hard way but once I said that I would pay the
fees, my brother was willing to take the dna test. I finally figured that
since I was the one with the interest in dna, paying the fees was only fair
and he was the only male with the requisite surname!
My paternal grandmother was a Matthews married to a Robertson. I am
working on the Robertson dna but am interested in the Matthews.
My grandmother was Blanche Margaret Matthews and her father was Paul Boyd
Matthews who was in the Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War. He is
buried in Santa Ana Cemetery, Santa Ana, California. His mother was
Elizabeth
McCorkle married to Richard Matthews. Paul Boyd Matthews was born in
Butler County, PA.
