SCRUGGS, Gloria Jean Mattox

Gloria Jean Mattox Scruggs, 62, of Rocky Mount, Virginia went to be with
the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2004. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Junior H. and Mary Gertrude Fralin Mattox; a sister, Nancy
Phyllis Mattox; a brother Glen Mattox; and sisters-in-law Phyllis
Bartlett and Mary Frances Scruggs. She is survived by her husband of 44
years, Cecil O. Scruggs; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Lucinda
Scruggs of Rocky Mount; Virginia, daughters and son-in-law, Debbie
Mitchell of Rocky Mount, Virginia, Kay Cooper of Clemmons, North
Caroilna, and Carol Ann and Edward Hudson of Rocky Mount, Virginia;
grandchildren, Chris Mitchell, Kasey Cooper, Trey Cooper and Tori
Scruggs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Linda Mattox of
Fieldale, Virginia, and Jimmy and Wanda Mattox of Glade Hill, Virginia;
sisters and brothers-in-law, Claudine and Bradie Brown of Danville,
Virginia, Pat Keys of Sarasota, Florida, Linda and Junior Tosh of Wirtz,
Virginia, and Sandra and R.J. Scruggs of Fayettville, West Virginia;
sisters-in-law, Eldean Mattox and Betty Staples; brother-in-law, Dickie
Bartlett; brothers-in-law and spouses, Bobby and Oletta Scruggs, William
and Margaret Scruggs, Jessie and Beulah Scruggs, Richard and Ruth
Scruggs, and R.J. and Sandra Scruggs; sister-in-law and spouse, Nadene
and Sherman Truman; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family
members, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted at 2
p.m. Friday, January 23, 2004 from the Lynch Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Denver Turner officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from
7 to 9 p.m. Family wishes to extend a special expression of gratitude to
Rev. Denver Turner who is not only a minister but also a life long
friend. Arrangements by Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. Virginia.
Interment will be at Franklin Memorial Park in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
