Have you tried these steps to do more paper search to find a trail for your
ancestors.
1. go to Whitaker mailing list ; the same way you joined this one; sign up
for the Whitaker mail list at Rootsweb ;
2. go to Walker mail list and sign up; then post your query there. Perhaps
you have already done this. you would send to:
and type in subscribe. Once you have
subscribed you can post your query. Also, you could search the back years
of postings in the Walker archives but this can be frustrating because it is
time consuming and you may come up with nothing.
3. Find a 30 mile radius of Brookfield and follow where the groups of people
came from. There were Walkers early in Sudbury MA and it could be that a
member of that family went west into Brookfield /Worcester. I know the Rice
family did they started out in Sudbury and then were in on the migration when
Worcester was formed.
Sorry, it is a long trail to follow; I would put off a bus trip fornow until
you can scout out a few more people on the internet. Also, there is a Rice
family association that has a newsletter; perhaps there is a Whitaker or
Walker family association.
I will send you my Walker line from Sudbury but I stopped following it a
certain point and it won't easily link to your Brookfield family.
Jes
