information on the Andersonville Prison, the Prisoner Memorial and
data on the area surrounding Andersonville.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit the prison site and the
memorial, together, they are one of the most stirring displays of
human suffering I have ever experienced. It was quite a revelation to
understand there were at one time over 32,000 men living on 26 acres
of land within the stockade, of which only about 21 was actually not
swamp. At the time, my wife, two foster kids, and I were living in
Oregon on 21 acres in the country, so the display was quite poignant.
This is but one small fact of many displayed.
