Anne Bigelow Child, 82, of Avon, formerly of Shrewsbury, Mass., died
Saturday, June 7, in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Her husband,
Thomas M. Child Sr., died in 2000. She leaves four sons, Thomas M. Child
Jr. and Kenneth B. Child, both of Avon, Richard D. Child of Belmar and
Douglas Child of Berwyn, Pa.; three step-grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren. A son, William B. Child, died in 1956. A grandson died in
2002. She was born in Shrewsbury, daughter of Horace H. and Ethel Reagan
Bigelow, and lived in Avon since 1942. She graduated from Bancroft
Preparatory School in Worcester, Mass., and received a bachelor's degree
from Vassar College.
Mrs. Child was a homemaker. In the 1940's, she worked in the
procurement division of a lab in Fort Monmouth. She was a longtime
member of Girl Scouts of America.
The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, June 13,in Reilly
Funeral Home, Eight Avenue and D Street, Belmar. Burial will be prvate.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday Jun 13, in the funeral
home. Donations may be made to Avon School, Fifth and Lincoln Avenues;
or to Avon First Aid, 311 Main St., both of Avon, NJ 0717
