Simon STONE (2), born in 1631, married Mary, daughter of Elder John
WHIPPLE, an early settler of Ipswitch, Mass. She was born in 1634 and
died June 2, 1720.
Simon and his brother John divided the real estate left by their
father, Simon retaining the paternal homestead for his residence.
He was deacon of the church, selectman for several years, town clerk
for 10 years, representative to the General Court from 1678 to 1684,
inclusive, and in 1686-89-90, he was also one of the original
proprietors of Groton, where in 1662 he owned an 18 acre right,
increasing his holdings there in 1670 to more than 87 acres, althought
he may not have lived there. He died Feb. 27, 1708. His children were:
1) Simon, Sept 8, 1656; married Sarah FARNSWORTH
2) John, July 23, 1658; married Mrs. Sarah (NUTTING) FARNSWORTH
3) Matthew, Feb 16, 1659-60; married Mary PLYMPTON
4) Nathaniel, Feb 22, 1661-2 and later died that year
5) Ebenezer, Feb 27, 1662-3; married Margaret TROWBRIDGE; died 1754
6) Mary, 1665; married Comfort STARR, of Dedham
7) Nathaniel 2, 1667; married Reliance HICKLEY; died 1755
8) Elizabeth, Oct 9, 1760***(probably 1670; my comment); marrried Isaac
STEARNS, of Lexington
9) David, Oct 19, 1672; married Mary RICE; died Oct 7, 1750
10) Susanna, Nov 4, 1675; married Hon. Edward GODDARD; died 1754
11) Jonathan, Dec 26, 1677; married (1st) to Ruth EDDY

Jonathan STONE (3), youngest child of Simon STONE, Jr., resided on
the homestead in Watertown, was one of the proprietors committee,
selectman in 1724 & 1727, and ensign of the military company in 1730.
He married (1st) on Nov. 15, 1699 to Ruth EDDY, who died Oct 7, 1702,
leaving one child. He married (2d) to Mary (?), who died June 24, 1720.
He married (3d) on Nov 15, 1720 to Hepzibah, daughter of Nathaniel and
Mary (BRIGHT) COOLIDGE, she died in 1763 and Jonathan died Jan. 7, 1754.
His children were:
1) Jonathan, 1702
2) Hepzibah, twin, Aug. 9, 1722; died April 14, 1723
3) Ann, twin, Aug. 9, 1722; married Jonas STONE
4) Moses, Dec. 16, 1723; married Hannah TAINTOR and lived on the
homestead in Watertown

Jonathan STONE, Jr. (4) was born in 1702 and married Feb. 25, 1724-25
to Hannah, daughter of Samuel and Mary (STEARNS) JENNISON. She was
cousin to Capt. Israel JENNISON and a niece of judge William JENNISON,
both prominent in the early history of Worcester. Mr. STONE died Oct 27,
1725, leaving a son. His widow married (2d) on Sept 4, 1729 to John
GODDARD, of Brookline.
