Good morning,
Looking through some old census records, I find some of my family listing
Ireland free state as where they or their parents were born. Does anyone
know exactly where Ireland free state is located?
I know Ireland is split into two countries. I always thought it to be
Catholics and Protestants.
Are we now saying Northern Ireland is Scottish?
I read some very old records years ago that England did not want to let
Scotland free to be its own country because the land was rocky and could not
sustain them to grow crops or for grazing animals.
I read that is why Scotland fought against England in a very bloody battle.
Scotland said they would NOT be dependant on another country. They said they
could take care of themselves.
I think I have also read that they really could not take care of themselves
and went to Ireland and Canada and America to try and make their way.
I read they destroyed records, started fires and tortured many people.
My question is Where would Ireland free state be located?
Thank you,
Liz
