Hi Fred:
I tried the 1860 and 1870 on-line. Nothing comes up for Arkwell or
using the soundex search too.

However, I did find them!

as MARKSON!]Actual reading:

as Hartwell] Acutal reading:

Stephen Hartwell 38 England both parents foreign born
Matilda Hartwell 40 England both parents foreign born
Harriet Hartwell 14 MA both parents foreign born
Edwin Hartwell 10 MA both parents foreign born
Oscar Hartwell 03 MA both parents foreign born
