Joseph W. Crotty, 74, of 9 Suburban Road died Tuesday in St. Vincent
Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Frances M. (Bergin) Crotty; a son, Joseph W.
Crotty Jr. of Worcester; a daughter, Ruth F. Little of Vicksburg,
Miss.; and several grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of
Joesph A. and Isabel (Toomey) Crotty.

Mr. Crotty graduated from St. John's High School in 1933 and the
University of Notre Dame in 1937. He did graduate work at Columbia
University.

He opened an accounting office here in 1945 and became a certified
public accountant in 1954. Since 1982 he was a partner in the
accounting firm of Bergin and Crotty at Madison Place. Mr. Crotty was
public accountant for the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of
Worcester since the early 1950s. He taught accounting at the New
England School of Accounting for many years. He was a U.S. Navy
veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Board of Corporators
of St. Vincent Hospital, American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public
Accountants. He was a former member of Greendale Kiwanis Club,
Worcester Economic Club and the Worcester Area Estate Planning
Council. He was a volunteer with the Bishops' Fund at Blessed
Sacrament Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday from Athy Memorial Home, 111
Lancaster St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555
Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours at
the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Hospital. He was the husband of Frances M. (Bergin) Crotty. Athy
Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., is directing arrangements.
