I'm sticking my BOLSTER nose in, again. I have copies of two
documents which might help people narrow down the search for the Taft
farm location.
1. a Mendon proprietor's record, p. 714 --
June 8, 1733, Laid out land for Isaac Bolster, five acres, viz:
three acres
eighth division, two acres ninth division, laid out joining to his
other land
2. a probate court record dated 13 May 1754, Uxbridge --
And we have devided and set of ye land as follows to Richard
Bolster eldest son of
ye deseased [the above-mentioned Isaac Bolster] about thirty eight
acres of land
laying on ye south side of ye said deseaseds Home farm and is bound
southerly at
ye south line of said Farme Runs and Easterly by Gideon Tafts land
about fifty five
rods until it coms to a jog in said Tafts land then to turn and run
westerly to a heap
of stones laying on ye west side of the road then to run southerly
by said road seventeen
rods and six feet to a stake & heap of stones by ye side of said
road then turning and
runing --- westerly twelve rods to a stak on ye south side of ye
Barn then to run something
Norwesterly through said Barn twelve rods and a half to a stake and
heap of stones then
to run westerly to a heap of stons at ye line of land belonging to
ye Heirs of mr John Cook
deseased then runing southerly fifty rods to ye southwest Corner of
said farm

If Gideon TAFT is the owner of the "Taft Farm" you are trying to
locate, then it was in that part of Mendon which was later
incorporated into Uxbridge, in the eighth or ninth original land
division, near or adjacent to John COOK and Isaac BOLSTER's properties.

Hope this gives a few clues.

Best Regards,
Sally (Bolster) Holcombe
