Jane,
There is a massing project ongoing to put all of the published vital
records of early Massachusetts, 1600-1850, online in a single place.
Sometimes these records do cover a little later time frame. We have all of
the CDs that contain all of the published records. We'll do a lookup for you
tomorrow (Friday).

Yes, you can search books at google. Go to http://books.google.com. The
quality of the images, for the most part, is outstanding. The indexing,
though, will give you far more hits than you may want to search through.
But, give it a try.
