Subject: [MAWORCES] Fw: Marriage of Susannah WHITE & John RICE
Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2007 14:28:07 -0700
Thank you both for looking into this for me. I used "Systematic History
Fund, Instituted in 1895: Vital Records of Brookfield, Massachusetts, to the
End of the Year 1849," Worcester, MA, Pub. by Franklin P. Rice, trustee of
the fund, ca 1898-1906. I read it on the FHC microfilm #0547195 item 1,
page 256. Then a very kind lady photographed her headstone in the
Brookfield Cemetery, and it clearly says, "4th generation from Peregrine
White." Susan & John Rice had a daughter, Allis (or Alice) who married a
Joseph Rice and had a son, buried in Brookfield, named "Peregrine White
Rice." Peregrine White did have a grandson, Jonathan White, who had a
daughter, Susanna, born same year as my Susanna in Yarmouth, Barnstable Co.,
Ma; the family disappeared from Plymouth and Barnstable Counties, so no more
is know about this family.
Since the Whites don't seem to be in Brookfield, I am hoping they
settled in another town in Worcester Co., where the Rice/White wedding would
have been.
Thank you, both, but I do have all the dates for the children of John
and Susannah. Another thing I could use, if available, is the maiden name
and dates for a Mary Thompson, second wife of Susan & John Rice's son Amos.
Thompson could be her name from her first marriage, or her maiden name -- I
have no other information on her. Their marriage intention in Brookfield was
dated 28 Oct 1805.
I certainly appreciate any and all help you have.
Dorothy Brandner
Dorothy,
I am not aware of any White family in Brookfield; the Rice family is
very well known. There are no White burials in Brookfield cemetery,
except for a few contemporary ones.

Dorothy:
What is the source of Susan's maiden name? Why do you think it is White? The
Rice Genealogy does not give a maiden name for her. I can give yo8 exact
dates for kids etc. if needed.
