Subject: [MAWORCES] Old records of GEO. SESSIONS & SONS (funeral home) @Worc Historical Museum
Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2007 15:12:21 EDT
Well, thanks to the Worcester Historical Society, I finally learned today
where my 2-great grandmother ELIZABETH PAUL (BEAGARY) FIELD REED, b. Camden, NJ,
1838, died.
She had lived in Worcester since the mid-1860s when she moved there with her
mother KEZIAH (LANDERS) STILES BEAGARY CARTER and her married sister REBECCA
ANN (BEAGARY) MORGAN and brother in law, CHARLES HILL MORGAN.
She is buried with second husband Mayor CHARLES GARDNER REED in the
REED-BROWNELL family plot at Hope Cemetery. I have looked high and low for her death
record, for some years never dreaming she died out of state. I figured the
death record had been misfiled or listed incorrectly in death index. This e-mail
today solved this mystery.
First here is transcription of REED Family plot at Hope Cemetery.

Suggestion from ELAINE PAJKA (FRIENDS OF HOPE) is to try the Worcester
Historical Museum
(she tried to find ELIZABETH's death record at City Hall and it is not
recorded).
She said the funeral was handled by GEO. SESSIONS & Sons, old records for
this firm are held by Worcester Historical Museum.

E-mail received today from Worcester Historical Museum.

10-3-07:
Dear Mrs. Russell:
I was able to find an obituary for Elizabeth Elizabeth P. Reed. I think the
reason you can not find a death record for her is because she actually died
in Virginia. From the article, she was mountain climbing/hiking in the Blue
Ridge Mountains on Elks Spur Knob in Carroll, Virginia when she died from a
heart attack.
I hope that this information is helpful to you.

Naturally I have requested that this obituary be sent to me. I have long
had photos of the gravestones of this family, but for some reason only recently
decided to try to get the office copy and fortunately a volunteer at FRIENDS
OF HOPE went the extra mile for me and had a wonderful research suggestion. I
would like to thank volunteer, ELAINE PAJKA, for this great research
suggestion!
