Subject: Timothy FULLER & Sarah GATES of Haddam

Just ran across a puzzle. The Silver Book (#4) on the descendants of
Edward FULLER gives the wife of Timothy(4) FULLER [Samuel(3),
Matthew(2), Edward(1)] as Sarah GATES, daughter of Capt. George
GATES & Sarah OLMSTEAD. [p 20] It also says that an account of the
estate of George GATES, dated 1 Jun 1725, names Sarah FULLER among
his heirs.
I have the Manwaring transcription of George GATES' probate [Vol 2, p 511]
which lists those who were to receive the distribution of the estate: "Page
86--1st June, 1725: Adms. account exhibited: Paid in debts and charges,
55-06-06. The heirs had formerly received 986-17-02. Whereas, the
inventory of the estate on record is 529-00-05, from which deduct 55-06-
06, there remains 407-15-11 to be distributed, to which adding the sum of
986-14-02, will make the whole sum 1460-08-01 to be distributed,
includeing what has already been given by deeds of gift. To the heirs of
Thomas Gates, eldest son, deceased, 324-10-08; to Samuel Gates, to
Thomas Gates, to Daniel Gates, to George Gates, to SARAH SHAYLOR,
to Mary Cone, to each of them, 162-05-04."
Did Manwaring make a mistake in transcribing the record or is there an
error in the Silver Book? According to it, Timothy married Sarah abt 1694
and didn't die until 1748, so it isn't a case of a second marriage changing
Sarah's name to SHAYLOR. Help!
