This is somewhat roundabout, but there's PERSI (the
PERiodical Source Index) from the Allen County Public
Library which indexed virtually everything published
in genealogical journals. It is available on paper at
some well endowed libraries, on CD, and it used to be,
and probably still is, a part of the Ancestry.com
basic subscription. My CD says there are over 1.7
million entries, and they include apparently every
little local society newsletter as well as the major
ones. Once you find a likely looking article you can
order a copy from the Allen County Public Library if
you can't access the article locally. Service is a
little slow, but good and not terribly expensive.

Which brings up a question of my own.

I have the 2001 PERSI CD from Ancestry, but it uses a
new version of Ancestry View to read the CD. So far
if I install the new version it becomes impossible for
me to use the old version, which I use for The Great
Migration Begins, and other older Ancestry CDs, and
the new version won't read the old CDs. I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling each version in various
sequences, but obviously so far nothing works for all
the CDs--I can see the old ones or the new one, but
not both. I have been occupied with other things
recently, and haven't had time for an attempt to
contact Ancestry "help." If the help is anything like
what it has been for me this doesn't matter.

Has anyone a solution for me?
