Millie -
Distance in time and space does not matter - to join the Mayflower Society
you must prove lineal descent from a passenger. Are you descended from
Alice Carpenter's 1st or 2nd husband? Neither Edward Southworth nor Alice
Carpenter was a Mayflower passenger, so descent from one of their children
(Constant and Thomas Southworth) does not make one eligible. William
Bradford was a passenger, so descent from one of William and Alice's
children (William, Mercy and Joseph Bradford) does confer eligibility.
From the way that you state your relationship to Edward Winslow I presume
that you were descended from one of his brothers - John, Kenelm, or Josiah,
which would not make you eligible.
Note, however, that if you are descended from one of Edward Winslow's
brothers or from Edward Southworth there may well be a Mayflower line
somewhere in your ancestry. For example, six of Edward Southworth's
grandchildren married Mayflower Descendants. His granddaughter Elizabeth
Southworth married Joseph Howland, son of John Howland. His grandson Edward
Southworth married Mary Pabodie, granddaughter of John Alden. His
granddaughter Alice Southworth married Benjamin Church, grandson of Richard
Warren. His grandson Nathaniel Southworth married Desire Gray,
great-granddaughter of James Chilton. His granddaughter Mary Southworth
married David Alden, son of John Alden. His grandson William Southworth
married Rebecca Pabodie, another granddaughter of John Alden.
If you can prove descent from any very early immigrant to Plymouth Colony
it is quite possible that one of your ancestors married a Mayflower
descendant - you just need to find that line.
