Dear List,
Just like in fishing, if you want to catch a fish you sometimes need to take
just one more cast.....
Anthony Armstrong, Kilmaclasser, County Mayo, Ireland
Mary Anne Ruane, Addergoole, County Mayo, Ireland
They were married 18th of April 1839 at Crossmolina Church of Ireland
James Armstrong (my GGF) their son born 12-24-1854 County Mayo, the fourth of
six children born to Anthony and Mary Anne. Names of other five children
unknown with any certainty. Perhaps one is named Charles.
James came to USA in 1868 at the age of fourteen. I believe in the company of
some or all of his siblings.
James lived at 16 Spring St., Pittston, Pennsylvania. The section of
Pittston where he lived is called Sebastopol. His mail delivered from
Inkerman another small village near Pittston.
James Armstrong married Bridget McNulty August 9, 1882 at St. John the
Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Pittston, PA.
Bridget McNulty is the daughter of Timothy and Mary (Malley/Malia) McNulty
originally of County Mayo and later of the Pittston area of PA. Bridget
McNulty had three sisters that were named Helen, Margaret and Sara Joan.
Children of James Armstrong and Bridget McNulty:
Charles Armstrong b. 5-26-1883 d. approx. 1936
Mary Armstrong b. 5-20-1886 d. October 1965
Blanche Armstrong b. 7-06-1889 d. March 1965
James W. Armstrong b.8- 09-1893 d. 6-11-1953 (my GF)
Joseph Armstrong b. ?-? -1899 d. 1-17-1964
John M. Armstrong b. ?-?-1900 d. ?-?-1939
I am looking for the following:
1) Charles Armstrong born April 1842, County Mayo Ireland. Does anybody
have one?
2) Armstrongs who may have arrived USA 1868 from County Mayo, Ireland and
perhaps settled in Illinios, Indiana and Ohio and who may have been involved
in coal mining and iron works.
3) Any information on the Timothy and Mary (Malley) McNulty family of
Pittston, PA
4) Anyone researching Ohio, Indiana or Illinois Armstrongs that is missing a
James Armstrong in Pennsylvania around 1880.
Thanks,
John T. Armstrong
