I went to my local FHC tonight but they only had very local information available and virtually no Irish information. The people there didn't really seem to know much about how I find out film numbers etc. Basically I'm trying to track down my grandfather's birth - I know he was born on 14 November but am not sure of the year - could be 1905 or 1906. I gather you can look at indexes of births - how much information does this give? Also how do I find out film numbers? Do they have copies of certificates on microfilm or would I have to get the basic info from the index then contact Dublin? Sorry if these are silly questions but I'm very new at this.
