Perhaps I am missing something but I did not find a reference to changing
the name of the Clan in the document that you sent. We have the full
documents that Dr. Earl MacPhee put together, but so far I have not found
reference to a name change, but I will keep looking.

I still have questions about the invitation of the Lord Lyon to change the
name of the clan from Macfie to MacDuffie. First when did the invitation
come and to whom was it delivered? I am sure there would be a hard copy of
such an invitation, when will the Societies have access to it? It was also
stated that the Commander and the majority of the Societies would have to be
in favor of this change, Commander Sandy McPhie knows nothing about this, so
apparently he has not petitioned for, nor even agreed to, a change of
names. We are anxious to get the particulars. My initial understanding was
that the MacDuffie Society was petitioning the Lord Lyon to have their own
Clan with a different tartan etc., separate and different from the Macfies.
I have no problem with that, but to try to change the name of Macfie to
MacDuffie, would be, in my opinion, ill advised.
