Dear Donna, (I am assuming Donna from your email address,)

Hello. Very good to hear from you. There may be several areas that we
connect. Obviously there is a McCRACKEN connection as my Elizabeth "Bettie"
PIERCE was the sister of George PIERCE who married Elizabeth McCRACKEN whom
appears to be the neice of Aquilla (1) McCRACKEN, Sr. and wife, Rhoda LANE.

Thank you very much for adding the LANE name for Rhoda's family as I did not
have that. Do you have the names of her parents? I am also interested in
the LANE lineage that she descends from as I descend from (Captain) John LANE
of "Laneville," King & Queen County, Virginia, and wife, Mary ?, who were the
parents of Jane LANE, born: Abt. 1670, who was one of 3 wives of (Colonel)
Gawin/Gawen (2) CORBIN, Sr., born: 1669 in Peckatone, Middlesex County,
Virginia, died: January 01, 1744/45 in "Laneville," King & Queen County,
Virginia, (son of Henry CORBIN and Alice ELTONHEAD,) who also married
Catherine WORMELEY and Martha BASSETT.

And the aforementioned Jane LANE was the sister of Mary LANE, born: Abt.
1660, who married James HOWELL, (shown most often as (Sir) John HOWELL but
(Sir) John HOWELL was, most likely, the father of James HOWELL and James
HOWELL and Mary LANE had a son named John HOWELL who married Mildred LEWIS,
(also married to Dr. John BROWN and (Col.) Henry WILLIS.)

Mary LANE and James HOWELL were the parents of Mary HOWELL who married
(Colonel) Charles Lilburne "Of the Byrd" LEWIS, Sr., (brother of Mildred
LEWIS,) son of Elizabeth WARNER and John "Councillor" LEWIS.

So, do you know if this LANE connects to your LANE?

And, in addition, I have COLLINS descent that very well could connect but I
have virtually nothing on it as my paternal 3rd great grandmother is thought
to have been named Mary COLLINS, born: prob. abt. 1790 maybe in South
Carolina, who moved to Jones County, MS with her husband, Evan ELLZEY, and
they were the parents of my paternal 2nd great grandmother, Harriett ELLZEY,
born: 1824 in Jones Co., MS, who married John LEWIS, born: Abt. 1820 in
Jones Co., MS, son of Nancy COPELAND, (daughter of Rachael TUCKER and Ripley
COPELAND, (RS,) and Howell LEWIS, born: Bet. 1782-1788 in Granville Co.,
North Carolina.

John LEWIS and Harriett ELLZEY were the parents of my paternal great
grandmother, Rachael Moranda "Randy" LEWIS (COLEMAN) (BRIGHT,) born: Abt.
1851 in Jones Co., MS, who married as her 2nd/3rd husband, Spencer B. PARKER,
my paternal great grandfather, parents of my paternal grandmother, Allie
Artimissa PARKER, born: August 11, 1892 near Braxton, Simpson Co., MS, who
married my paternal grandfather, James Martin "Jim" MYRICK, born: 1892 near
Magee, Simpson Co., MS, son of Harriet Katherine "Hattie" HERRINGTON and
Calvin Pierce "Callie" MYRICK..

Now, I don't know that there is a connection with the name Tote LANE but it
is certainly possible that there could be with the name of TOTER that is in
my family group which I will explain.

The aforemention Calvin Pierce "Callie" MYRICK, born: 1859 in Jasper County,
MS, was the son of Phoebe Catherine HERRINGTON, born: April 1833 in MS,
probably Jasper County, MS, who was the daughter of William HERRINGTON, Jr.,
born: Abt. 1794 in New Hanover Co., NC, (son of William HERRINGTON, Sr.,
born: Bef. 1755 in Craven Co., NC, (later New Hanover Co.,) and William
HERRINGON, Jr.'s wife, Cynthia "Sina/Sena" GRANTHAM, born: Abt. 1800 in
Robeson County, North Carolina on the border of South Carolina, (daughter of
Richard GRANTHAM, Jr. and Elizabeth AMMONS, (daughter of John (2) AMMONS and
Elizabeth PARKER?/GUICE?)

And Phoebe Catherine HERRINGTON's husband was William H. "Billy" MYRICK,
born: 1822 in Jones County, MS, (living in Jasper Co., MS later after it was
formed from part of Jones Co.,) who was the son of William MYRICK, born:
Abt. 1788 prob. in Barnwell County, South Carolina, (prob. son of (Col.)
James MYRICK and Mary BROOKER of Barnwell/Allendale Co., SC,) and his wife,
Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE, born: 1790 in 96th District, South Carolina,
(previously was Spartanburg District then 96th District then Edgefield
District then County,) who was the daughter of Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) born: Abt.
1749 in Frederick County, VA /or March 01, 1750/1751 in Frederick Co., VA if
he was the twin brother of Daniel PIERCE who was the son of immigrants
Elizabeth ? and Richard PIERCE, and Hugh PIERCE's wife, Sophia/Sofiia HUNTER,
born: prob. Abt. 1765, died: 1849 in Henderson, Rusk County, Texas,
daughter of CHEROKEE father: Bold HUNTER, born: Abt. 1750 in North
Carolina, died: in Texas, believed but not proven to be the same Bold HUNTER
who was born 1/2 CHEROKEE & 1/2 SCOTTISH named John BOWLES/aka DUWALI/aka
D'IWALI/aka (Chief) John BOWLES, Chief of the TEXAS CHEROKEE, (aka "The
Cherokee Moses,) and Sophia HUNTER's mother was a CHEROKEE woman named Beaver
TOTER, (aka TOATER,) whom is found on the 1835 CHEROKEE Census of Georgia as
a land owner and also in the book, "CHEROKEE PLANTERS OF GEORGIA," mentioned
along with her sons, Jim TOTER, Hog TOTER and Light TOTER.

Perhaps it is possible that there is a connection with this name of TOTER and
your Tote LANE. Since your LANE family married into the McCRACKEN and the
McCRACKEN family married into the PIERCE family that is descended from the
TOTER family one generation earlier it is entirely possible that there is a
more advanced connection. And another thing that makes me think there may be
additional connections is the name of Hugh COLLINS being related to the LANE
and McCRACKEN family that married into the family of my paternal 4th great
grandfather, Hugh PIERCE and then there is the name of Hugh McCRACKEN, born:
1802 in Georgia, died: Aft. 1860, who married Abigail EWING, born: Bet.
1801-1802 in Kentucky, who married on June 06, 1822 in Edwards County,
Illinois, son of Rhoda LANE and Aquilla McCRACKEN, Sr., whom is, according to
my understanding the son of Elizabeth BOYD and David (1) McCRACKEN, Sr.,
(parents of David McCRACKEN, (RS,) who married Elizabeth WILSON whose
daughter, Elizabeth McCRACKEN married George PIERCE, son of Hugh PIERCE,
(RS,) and Sophia HUNTER/aka BOWLES/BOLES/aka TOTER, (aka TOATER.)

All of this makes me think that there may even have been an earlier common
denominator "Hugh" who the the Hugh COLLINS and Hugh PIERCE connect to.
Perhaps Hugh PIERCE's probable mother, Elizabeth ?, who married Richard
PIERCE, immigrants, might have even been of the maiden name Elizabeth
COLLINS? And, perhaps, her father's name was Hugh COLLINS????

Do you have a date of birth and location of birth, death, and where he
resided for your Hugh COLLINS?

It is quite possible that this Hugh COLLINS family might be related to my
Hugh PIERCE as well as being an ancestor for my Mary COLLINS who married Evan
ELLZEY from South Carolina as my family groups married repeated from the
1600s in Virginia and even before.

Is it possible that anything that I am 'surmising' might possibly connect
with anything else in your information? Looking forward to hearing from you
again. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
