Dear Mr. Downing: I'm still trying to find a connection to my former
husband's McCracken name. But
on his side, we have very little to go with. I only have his parent's names,
Ray Eugene McCracken and
Ruth Virgil Colegrove. They were probably married somewhere in Kansas around
34-35, as their first
child was born 19 December 1936. He was my ex. We remain friends, and are
both cooperating in doing
these genealogies, both for our children, and for his by his second
marriage. Besides, he now lives
in Joplin MO, only 17 miles from a cemetery where my maiden name of Niceley
if represented by my
gr. grandfather from that side, plus about 20 of my relatives who preceded
him. I am also researching
my Fleenor line, (My father's mother) and somewhere there, we have a
Fleenor/McCracken connection,
as we just saw posted on the Fleenor page, an obit for a lady who lived 100
years, Laura Fleenor McCracken! I think I married a cousin! Thanks for your
kind message, and I am putting all these on a
densely-packed CD-RW so that I do not lose any connections which may show up
as we trace back to
his grandparents and others who went before. I don't believe they sprang
fully grown form the Kansas
prairie, his ancestors ARE from England, Scotland, and Wales. So somebody
already in my files will
probably connect someday. Thanks again, and if I can help you locate anyone,
please let me know. Penny Niceley Fleenor McCracken!
