I am seeking information regarding Hiram McCracken, his wife, children and descendents. He and his brother John L. McCracken (Jr.) lived in adjacent houses in Humphreys County, TN in 1840. Hiram was born ca 1810 in TN and apparently left Humphreys Co. before 1850. I cannot locate him after the 1840 census. In 1850, the census of Caldwell County, KY enumerated a widow Elizabeth McCracken and her children Amanda, John L., Rachel and Gustava. Recent Y-DNA testing has proven that a male McCracken descendent of her son John L. shares a McCracken ancestor with a cousin of Hiram, leading me to suspect that Elizabeth was Hiram's widow. Now, I'm looking either prove or disprove that conjecture. Any help with Hiram would be appreciated.
