I was pleased to see the rash of recent activity in the McKay room. My
lineage settled near Ballymena in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Hugh McKay was born in 1801 in Constown, married Jennie Kenny (also spelled
Jenny Kenny and Jinney-Kenney), who was born in Kinneystown in 1800. They
settled in the townland of Frosses. Hugh and Jennie had eight children --
four boys and four girls.

Hugh Alexander McKay was born either in Ballymena (Ulster village?) or in
Frosses, on May 15, 1836.

James Paul McKay was born on July 12, 1838. Alexander McKay was born in
Frosses on May 22, 1843.

William John McKay was also born in Frosses, on September 12, 1849.

Two of the daughters were Mary Jane McKay Anderson and Nancy McCaughy
[pronounced McCoy], but the names of the other two are unknown.

Records show that several members of the family left Ireland on the trip to
the U.S. in May of 1865, or possibly in 1867 or 1868. They first rented
farms in Dwight, Livingston County, Illinois, near Chicago, and later moved
to Antelope County, Nebraska. From there some went on to homestead in
Campbell County, Wyoming.

I could go on and on with later generations, but maybe this is enough to
cross somebody elses lines.
