Does anyone know of a connection with the above, Old Tea Cup Whiskey and
the Robert McKees? My great grandfather was Shea of Shea Bocqueraz &
MCKEE Company in San Francisco in the 1800's in San Francisco, CA. In
1868 it was called Shea Bocqeraz and McKee and was on Front St. in San
Francisco.
One of the Partners, Robert McKee had owned the well
known TEA KETTLE brand of bourbon shipped from the distillery in
Kentucky in embossed bottles.
McKee held the patent on the Old Tea Cup Whiskey label sold in San
Francisco by my great grandfather..."Springfield Straight
Whiskey...Kentucky" The family has several Gibson Girl type posters
seling Old Tea Cup Whiskey.....
After 1870 the Co. was called Shea Bocqueraz Co.
Here is a quote from the Mariposa Gazette article. April 1889
It was about a wedding that took place in Hornitos Ca Apr 24, 1889
between Olcese-Gagliardo.
The connection came because apparently a "Mr. C.B. De Pas who represents
the well known firm of Shea Bocqueraz & McKee, being present was
requested to act as chairman of the banquet, after proposing the health
and prosperity of the bride and groom, which was responded to and drank
with great enthusiasm, three hearty cheers and a hurrah followed ..."
Three hundred invitations went out for the wedding and lists of gifts
are mentioned with givers and then the aforementioned De Pas is
mentioned as one of the honored guests.
Thank you, Peggy in South Carolina
