James Mckee b. @ 1776 NC, migrated to north AL through Sevier Co., TN, in
early 1800's with wife Sarah and children John, William, Simpson, Boyd,
Elizabeth and Kizziah. John, who had married Mary Pauline Atchley in TN,
farmed in Morgan Co. while William and possibly one or both of the other
brothers operated a ferry across the Tennessee River near Guntersville.
Their descendants were called "Riverboat" McKees and operated steam paddle
boats up and down the rivers (Tennessee, Ohio, & MIssissippi) John and
William's family have been pretty well documented, as well as Elizabeth's and
Kizziah's, but don't have anything on Boyd or Simpson.

I'm not sure of James' origins but his dob matches son of William and Mary
Rankin McKee. So far, no one has been able to prove that he's not their son,
at least they haven't informed me if they have. I've put out a number of
inquiries, but have had no response.

I would love to hear from any other descendants of either James or William
and Mary.
