Hey, hey, Little Annie, I think we have a connection. We don't match exactly on our data, but it's close enough to know we're talking about the same family. The Thomas Jefferson McKEE you are asking about was my great-grand-uncle.
I have George Riley McKEE, b. Jan 25, 1811 in Ohio. He fathered both Thomas Jefferson McKEE, b. 4-26-1850, d. 4-27-1924, Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio, and William Watkins McKEE, b. 10-15-1835, d. 7-19-1902, Butler County, Ohio. This line originated in Indiana. I show Thomas and William as siblings, rather than father and son. (My source, listed below, has data on the two generations prior to George Riley McKEE.)
I show George Riley married to Hettie /MISNER/, b.1812, d. 10-17-1891, m. 11-28-1830, Butler County, Ohio, with eight children born of the marriage. I show Thomas Jefferson married to Alice Elicia /STEWART/, b. 10-4-1858, d. 3-28-1915, m. 9-24-1874, with four children born of the marriage. I show William Watkins married to Melissa /SHIELDS/ b. 7-3-1839, d. 2-28-1903, m. 12-9-1855, Butler County, Ohio, with eight children born of the marriage.
It's considered good form to list the sources of information you are giving out, I'm told. My data came from two different sources, one confirming the other, which is a comfortable feeling. The first source, Bernice Olive /McKEE/ Stawmaker, of Indiana, has passed on. The second source, with the most information, came from a book, McKEE HISTORY --- MOVIN' ON, written by Ellen /McKEE/ Estes, published in the mid-1990s. Ms Estes, as far as I know, is alive and well in Harrison, Ohio. As a courtesy, I am cc'ing her on this msg so she'll be aware I'm quoting from her book, and so she can correct any incorrect information I may have listed above.
Martee, a newcomer to this list and glad to be here
