I have a Thomas McKEE, Jr., born 2 Mar. 1817 in Westmoreland County, PA. He married an Elizabeth ANDRE around 1840 and died 21 Mar. 1889. He was buried in Farmington, Fulton County, IL.
Thomas was apparently reared in McKeesport, Allegheny Cty, PA. Notes from LDS 1998 are as follows: "1820 census Armstrong Cty, Sugar Creek Twp, pg 315."
Thomas was found "in 1850 in Pioneer Twp, Cedar Co., IA. Moved there with his father-in-law, ANDRE, and wife Elizabeth. Five children listed: James, 9, John Andre, 7 & William 5 born in PA plus Samuel 3, Elizabeth 1 born in IA. According to this census they were in IA by 1847."
They were still living in IA in the 1860 census but not the 1870, and by 1880 they were living in Peoria Cty, IL. Lived in Mechanicsville, IA near Farmington, IL Family understanding is that Thomas went to California in the Gold Rush and "died on the way home of locked bowels."
Can you find any info in the Raymond W. McKEE "Book of McKees" that would substantiate, clarify or disprove any of this data? TIA
