I'm on my way out the door, but--I didn't say Hiram McKee, I just said Hiram, in the list of Saml Jrs & Elizabeths kids. He, of course, would be a Sinclair.
My main point is: Elizabeth's dad was Robert, son of Ferryman David, not Robert, so Elizabeth's grandfather was David, b 1710. You say a Robert built the courthouse.
No on can say for certain when these McKees came over, but they arrived at the river fork about 1769. Most I read says they came from over the eastern mountains?? Allegheny, it seems like, and some think he marrd. Margaret ?? over here. Later

Donna: I studied this information carefully. The record I have for Robert
McKee shows him born in 1740 in either Scotland or Ireland. I don't know
when Robert immigrated to PA, but it appears from my records that he came
about 1769, which would have meant that Robert was born before they came
over. So, it might have been possible for Robert to have built th first
courthouse in Allegheny Co.
Do you know the year that David immigrated?
Another question? Did you mean Hiram Sinclair instead of Hiram McKee as the
son of Samuel Sinclair, Jr. and Elizabeth Sinclair?

This has been bothering me. My record shows Hiram McKee to be the son of
Samuel Jr. and Elizabeth McKee Sinclair. Her parents were Robert
McKee and wife Susanna. Robt. b.1740-1782,was the son of David McKee b
1710 & Margaret, who had the ferry at McKeesport.
Robert and Susanna had children:
David & Robert, both named in Davids 1793 Will. Their father, Robt. had
already died. Two daughters, not shown in Will were the above Elizabeth
Sinclair & Mary Torrance.
Children of Samuel Jr. and Elizabeth Sinclair were:
Jane and Rebecca, who marrd Wm and Isaac Edmuston; Robert; Mary to John
Peebles or Peoples, (Mary, son of Mary McKee Peebles?); Nancy to John
Robison;
Louise to Sam Rose: Sarah Ann; Elizabeth to J.W. Edgar; Presley; and Hiram,
who md. Sarah Jane Cunningham, dtr. of John and Eliza Work. Note: Roberts
bros., David & James, mard. Margaret and Jean Cuningham.
Old David's dtr., Mary, md. a Peebles, (I think I got her name from the
Will) and his deceased son, Thomas' dtr., also Mary, md. a John
Peoples. Could be a mix-up there.
I am wondering about the Hiram bio I rec'd, which says Elizabeth's
father, Robert McKee, native of Ireland,, pioneer of Versailles, "whose
father, Robert McKee, built the first courthouse in Allegheny Co."Don't
think that's correct. Robert, father of this family,is son of David
b.1710, according to my records.
Can anyone straighten this out, or have we drifted over into the
Westmorland Robert McKees. Don't think so, as the Sinclairs lived across
the river from the ferry McKees. Court papers show they wanted to put in
their own ferry and "there was no necessity." Donna
