LAWRENCEBURG, Ky., Oct. 21. -
(Special) - Buckner McKee, a prosperous farmer of this county, last night shot, and killed Mrs. Allie Wilson and then sent a ball through his own brain. McKee was in town yesterday with his family attending the circus. Mrs. McKee spent last night with her brother-in-law, E.O. Thacher. McKee went to where Mrs. Wilson was living on one of his farms about dark. He borrowed a buggy and said he was going to Polk Searcy's after some whiskey. He was at Searcy's and bought two quarts about 6 [?] o'clock. About midnight three shots were heard in the direction of the Wilson home. At 6 o'clock this morning both were found dead in the road in front of the house. Mrs. Wilson was shot in the top of the head, the ball __a_ging downward. The pistol, a ___Smith & Wesson was evidently placed against McKee's right temple __ the bullet passed through his head. Mrs. Wilson leaves four small children. McKee had a nice family, one of his sons now being a student at the State Collect at Lexington.!
Coroner C. M. Poynter held the inquest.
The Morning Herald (Lexington, KY), Sunday, October 22, 1899, p.1 col.3
RESEARCH NOTE: Online GEDCOMS identify Buckner as the nickname for Willis Walker McKee, son of Henry McKee of Anderson Co. KY.
