parents of James and Francis ?

My name is Eva McKenna, and my claim to the McKenna name is through my
husband Brian!

Researching my own, mostly Norwegian lines, have been a doddle compared to
trying to unravel Brians Irish ancestors. I profess 2 -two-
first cousins. Brian has 52 -fifty-two just on his dad's side! And that's
the ones we have heard about so far !

Unless you know differently?

My hope is that some of the information below will ring a bell somewhere and
tie in with other descendants of the horse thieves from Monaghan! If that
indeed is what they were.

1. JAMES MCKENNA was born about 1843. In Belfast in 1874 his occupation was
given as a car driver; in 1894, again in Belfast, as a Coachman. He died
ca. 1936, aged 93 in North Queen Street, Short Strand, Belfast. James
McKenna was married 3 times, but all his children were born to his first
wife Esther neé Webb. (Photo)

According to James' grandson, Joe(seph McK b.1917), the McKenna family came
from Truagh in the north of County Monaghan, Northern Ireland.Another story,
according to Johnnie (McK b.1913) is that they were horse thieves!

JAMES MCKENNA's second wife was MARGARETH MCCAULEY. (When James was in his
60's)

JAMES MCKENNA's third wife was Mrs. MCGEE. (When James was in his 80's)

JAMES MCKENNA was married to ESTHER WEBB (daughter of WEBB (WARING) and
ESTHER HARVEY) in Lurgan, Northern Ireland. ESTHER WEBB was born about
1853. She died on June 11, 1898 in Belfast, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland. JAMES
MCKENNA and ESTHER WEBB had the following children:

1.1. JAMES MCKENNA was born in 1873. He died on June 10, 1957 in
54, Newington Avenue, Belfast.

JAMES MCKENNA was married to POLLY LOUGHLIN (daughter of EDWARD
LOUGHLIN and SARAH HALL).

1.2. FRANCIS MCKENNA was born on September 10, 1874 in Mustard St,
16 Sarah Street, Belfast.1 At the time of his christening, Francis'
father's occupation is given as a Car Driver. He died on April 26, 1949 in
2 Wilson Vale, Whitewell, Belfast. He was a Bookmaker, Clerk and Car Driver
in Belfast, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland. The witnesses at the wedding of Francis
and Minnie Ellinor, were Patrick McNay and Annie Nelson.

FRANCIS MCKENNA was married to MINNIE ELLINOR LOUGHLIN (daughter of
EDWARD LOUGHLIN and SARAH HALL) on March 25, 1894 in St. Patricks Church,
Belfast.2 On their marriage certificate, Minnie Ellinor is actually
referred to as Mary Ellen. Her address at the time was 42 Unity Street.
Francis lived at 1 Donore St., Belfast.The witnesses to the marriage were
Patrick McKay (McNay?) and Mary Ellen's cousin, Annie Nelson.

MINNIE ELLINOR LOUGHLIN was born on February 13, 1874 in 61, Earl
Street, Belfast.3 She was buried in September 1946 in Milltown Cemetery,
Belfast. She died on October 31, 1950 in 2 Wilson Vale, Whitewell,
Belfast.4 She died in the kitchen whilst cooking dinner. She was also
known as Mary Ellen. FRANCIS MCKENNA and MINNIE ELLINOR LOUGHLIN had the
following children:

1.2.1. ESTHER MCKENNA. ESTHER MCKENNA was married to
O'BRIEN. They had 12 children.(according to Gertie.)

1.2.2. FRANCIS MCKENNA died in October 1917.

1.2.3. JAMES MCKENNA died on May 21, 1943.5 JAMES MCKENNA
was married to JOSEPHINE KANE.

1.2.4. EDWARD (NED) MCKENNA was born about 1901. He died on
October 16, 1950 in 6 Whitewell Parade, Greencastle, Belfast. EDWARD
(NED) MCKENNA was married to KATHERINE ("MCKENNA").

1.2.5. MARGARET MARY (MOLLY) MCKENNA was born about 1903.
She died on May 14, 1954 in The Lodge, Military Hill, Cork.

1.2.6. GERALD (Gerry) MCKENNA6 was also known as Gerry. He
was a Bookmaker in Belfast, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland. Gerry and Lillie had 12
children. GERALD (Gerry) MCKENNA was married to LILLIE (MCKENNA). GERALD
(Gerry) MCKENNA and LILLIE ("MCKENNA") had the following children:

1.2.6.1. NUALA MCKENNA.

1.2.6.2. PATRICK MCKENNA was also known as Patsy.
He lived in Jordanstown, Co.Antrim, N.Ireland.

1.2.6.3. JAMES MCKENNA was also known as Jimbo.

1.2.6.4. EDWARD MCKENNA was also known as Eddie. He
was a plasterer.

1.2.7. ARTHUR PATRICK MCKENNA died only 4 months old, and
was buried at Greencastle Cemetery, Belfast.

1.2.8. HUBERT MCKENNA7 was born in February 1910. Gertie
reckons Hubert was born 11.May 1907. He died on January 19, 1964. He
emigrated to USA. He lived in 94 Homestead Place, New Rochelle, N.Y..8
Norah and Hubert had 8 children. HUBERT MCKENNA was married to NORAH
MCAULEY.

1.2.9. JOHNNY MCKENNA9 was born in 1913. He died in 1995 in
Bangor, N.Ireland. The family lived at 57 Antrim Road, Belfast, Northern
Ireland. MARY MAKIEN (daughter of Granda MAKIEN and Grannie MAKIEN) died in
1997 in Hollywood, N.Ireland. She was born April 1912. JOHNNY MCKENNA and
MARY MAKIEN had the following children:

1.2.9.1. COLLETTE MCKENNA was born in Belfast, Co.
Antrim, N.Ireland. COLLETTE MCKENNA is married to TONY WARD.

1.2.9.2. MARTIN MCKENNA10 was born in 1950 in
Belfast, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland. Martin died in a Road Traffic Accident on
October 23, 1979 in Belfast, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland.

1.2.9.3. FRANCIS JAMES MCKENNA was born in Belfast.

1.2.9.4. THERESA MCKENNA was born in Belfast.

1.2.9.5. MARY MCKENNA was born in Belfast. MARY
MCKENNA was married to STEPHEN DELARGI. MARY MCKENNA was married to TONY

Graveyard, Celbridge, Co. Kildare. PATRICK DERMOT MCKENNA was married to
KATHLEEN ALICE (KAY) ASTON (daughter of JOHN ASTON and ANNIE CHRISTINA
KEOGAN) on July 23, 1942 in Church of the Curragh Camp, Newbridge, Co.
Kildare.14 Witnesses to the marriage were Daniel Ryall and Noeline Aston;
(Kay's sister) KATHLEEN ALICE (KAY) ASTON was born on December 28, 1919 in
80 Fisher Street, Blackburn.15 She died on July 7, 1983 in 71 Kew Park,
Lucan, Co. Dublin, Éire. She was buried on July 9, 1983 in Donacomper
Graveyard, Celbridge, Co. Kildare. PATRICK DERMOT MCKENNA and KATHLEEN
ALICE (KAY) ASTON had the following children:

JOSEPH MCKENNA (son of JAMES MCKENNA and ROSE HIGGINS). THOMAS JOSEPH
MCKENNA27 was born on November 16, 1916 in Belfast, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland.
He died on October 14, 1993. He was a Public Relations Manager, Civil
Service in USA. [ Tom's Grandfather was the Overseeer of the Poor House in
Galway.Tom's Granduncle was Archbishop Healy of Tuam - Dedicated Maynooth.
Tom's Great Grandfather was a member of the Chelsea pensioners No. 16378
April 7, 1857. He was born 18.October 1824, Loughrea. He was a Colour
Sergeant 4th Regiment of Foot. (14 1/4 year of service) 5' 8", Dk.Br. Hair,
Hazel eyes, (probably a Lady Killer, sic Tom McKenna)]

GERTRUDE PAULINE (Gertie) MCKENNA and THOMAS JOSEPH MCKENNA
had the following children:

1.2.12.1. KIERAN MCKENNA was born in Belfast, Co.
Antrim, N.Ireland.

1.2.12.2. GERALDINE MCKENNA was born in New
Rochelle, N.Y.GERALDINE MCKENNA was married to THOMAS BURNA in Portchester,
N.Y.

1.2.12.3. MAUREEN MCKENNA was born in Portchester,
N.Y. MAUREEN MCKENNA was married to CHARLES A. REPACI. MAUREEN MCKENNA
and CHARLES A. REPACI have a son:
